Cara

Who are you, and what do you like to learn about? (academically, professionally, and/or personally)

My name is Cara and I am currently finishing up my masters degree in Instructional Design. I love to learn about instructional design and education, not just in school and work, but outside of both. Specifically visuals, virtual based classrooms, and e Learning. I try to read at least one ID book a month, and I am active member in the eLearning guild. I also love to read about financial planning and small businesses. And I am currently learning Spanish and how to sew.

What hardware do you use to learn? (Eg. smart phone, tablet, laptop, desktop)

I use the kindle app on my ipad to read, and I use my laptop for research or homework assignments.

What software do you use to learn? (Eg. search engines, mobile apps, social networks, eBooks, digital libraries, wikis, blogs, videos, podcasts)

I use Lynda.com and youtube.com for video tutorials, duolingo.com to learn Spanish (I also like that its in the form of microlearning segments, so I am not completely overwhelemed), search engines, and Ted Talks.

What digital tools do you wish you had access to for learning? (Eg. any graphic organizers, mind-mapping tools, resource management tools, progress tracking tools, design tools, etc.) Why?

Honestly, what I have access to currently works fine for my learning pursuits – kindle, internet, laptop, phone, etc.

What might your ideal Personal Learning Environment (PLE) look like?

Lets use Moodle or Blackboard for an example, as long as these sites are intuitive and easy to retrieve and deposit appropriate information whether it be in a wiki, blog, or discussion forum – that would be my ideal Personal Learning Environment.
