Who are you, and what do you like to learn about? (academically, professionally, and/or personally)

My name is Emma Foley and I like to learn about ways to make history and civics education more engaging and enjoyable for students. I like to learn about different instructional models. Personally, I enjoy learning more about whatever book I am currently reading. Right now it is a fantasy fiction novel about New York City. While I am reading, I will get online and learn more about New York City or other authors that are mentioned in the book, like H.P. Lovecraft. This then led me to learn more about him and his work and other work that was influenced by Lovecraft.

What hardware do you use to learn? (Eg. smart phone, tablet, laptop, desktop)

iPhone, laptop

What software do you use to learn? (Eg. search engines, mobile apps, social networks, eBooks, digital libraries, wikis, blogs, videos, podcasts)

Primarily Safari search engine on my phone or Google Chrome on my laptop. Occasionally I listen to Apple Podcasts and learn that way as well. I use Safari/Google because they are easy to use.

What digital tools do you wish you had access to for learning? (Eg. any graphic organizers, mind-mapping tools, resource management tools, progress tracking tools, design tools, etc.) Why?

I think progress tracking tools would be useful but I would also like access to design tools to explore on my own and learn how to use them for my own designs.

What might your ideal Personal Learning Environment (PLE) look like?

My ideal PLE would be like an “all in one” learning environment. I would like it if I had the ability to save resources to look at in the future and also it would be designed as a learning environment that am able to use to learn at my own pace and click around or browse or explore. It would also include a space for me to practice what I have learned.
