Who are you, and what do you like to learn about? (academically, professionally, and/or personally)
I am getting my master’s in Instructional Design and Technology. I work in the administration of a foreign language school. I like to learn about many things: science, technology, literature, new developments in the field of education.
What hardware do you use to learn? (Eg. smart phone, tablet, laptop, desktop)
I use a smart phone or a tablet to learn when I am not next to a desktop computer. I also use my smart phone to take notes in class. If I am sitting next to a computer I use it. I prefer the large screen and a physical keyboard with a mouse. I very rarely use my laptop.
What software do you use to learn? (Eg. search engines, mobile apps, social networks, eBooks, digital libraries, wikis, blogs, videos, podcasts)
I use search engines (google, yandex) all the time. I use mobile apps very rarely. I use ebooks and online libraries to find books. I also watch videos on youtube if I want to learn how to do something. I use lynda.com to learn how to work on new software.
What digital tools do you wish you had access to for learning? (Eg. any graphic organizers, mind-mapping tools, resource management tools, progress tracking tools, design tools, etc.) Why?
I think I already have most of the tools I need. More of progress tracking tools would be nice in a learning management system. This would help me keep track of where I am in my classes and the amount of work that is still left. It would also be nice to see how much work was completed to keep me motivated.
What might your ideal Personal Learning Environment (PLE) look like?
It would be nice to have a page that I could customize. It would be great to have progress tools, mind mapping tools, text and audio notes, a tool to upload photos and videos, a possibility to add necessary links to learning resources and a place to upload files that I am currently using for learning. It would be great to have a chat system with your classmates so you could ask questions, exchange ideas. It would also be nice to integrate email to an existing email, to avoid having many different accounts.
